AN ACT 1 Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled, 2 as amended, "An act relating to counties of the third, 3 fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending, 4 revising, consolidating and changing the laws relating 5 thereto; and providing for regional renaissance initiatives," 6 further providing for reports to the Department of Community 7 and Economic Development; and making editorial changes. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 1720 of the act of August 9, 1955 11 (P.L.323, No.130), known as The County Code, amended May 6, 1981 12 (P.L.49, No.16), is amended to read: 13 Section 1720. Controller's Settlement of Accounts; Report to 14 Common Pleas; Publications; Financial Report to Department of 15 Community [Affairs] and Economic Development.--The controller 16 shall, at the end of each fiscal year, complete the audit, 17 settlement and adjustment of the accounts of all county 18 officers. He shall, before the first day of [April] July in 19 every year, make a report, verified by oath or affirmation, to 20 the Court of Common Pleas of said county, of all receipts and
1 expenditures of the county for the preceding year, in detail, 2 and classified by reference to the object thereof, together with 3 a full statement of the financial conditions of the county. A 4 concise summary of this report shall thereupon be published one 5 time in such newspapers published in said county as the 6 controller may direct, but the aggregate cost thereof shall not 7 exceed fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) in any one year in any 8 county, to be paid for out of the county treasury. Such report 9 may also be published in printed pamphlets at the cost of the 10 county, the number and cost of such pamphlets to be determined 11 by the controller and the county commissioners. The controller 12 shall also, before the first day of [April] July, make an annual 13 report to the Department of Community [Affairs] and Economic 14 Development of the financial condition of the county, on forms 15 furnished by the Secretary of Community [Affairs] and Economic 16 Development, and subject to the penalties provided in section 17 one thousand seven hundred twenty-one of this act for auditors 18 refusing or neglecting to make similar reports. Within the 19 summary of the auditor's or controller's report, there shall be 20 a notice to the public that the entire text of the report shall 21 be available for public inspection during regular business hours 22 in the office of the auditor or controller. 23 Section 2.
