                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for violation
     3     penalties.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 6119 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes, amended December 7, 1989 (P.L.607,
     8  No.68), is amended to read:
     9  § 6119.  Violation penalty.
    10     (a)  General rule.--Except as otherwise specifically
    11  provided, an offense under this subchapter constitutes a
    12  misdemeanor of the first degree.
    13     (b)  Preliminary hearing or arraignment.--The presiding
    14  judicial officer at the hearing or preliminary arraignment,
    15  relating to any charge of a violation of section 6106 (relating
    16  to firearms not to be carried without a license) or possession
    17  of any pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle in violation of any


     1  applicable Federal or State law, shall not reduce or modify the
     2  original charges.
     3     (c)  Additional fine.--In addition to any fines and costs
     4  imposed by the court, an individual who violates section 6106 or
     5  possesses any pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle in violation of
     6  any applicable Federal or State law shall be ordered to pay an
     7  additional fine of $25 which shall be paid to the Pennsylvania
     8  State Police for the purpose of establishing a hotline for
     9  reporting the illegal possession of a pistol, revolver, shotgun
    10  or rifle or the unlawful carrying of a firearm without a permit.
    11     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
