AN ACT 1 Designating the bridge on Burd Street in the Borough of 2 Royalton, Dauphin County, as the Sgt. Major Clarence Edward 3 Mathias Bridge. 4 The General Assembly find and declares that: 5 (1) Clarence Edward Mathias, Sergeant Major, United 6 States Marine Corps, was born in Royalton Borough, Dauphin 7 County, on December 12, 1876. 8 (2) He was a career noncommissioned officer in the 9 Marine Corps who was awarded the Medal of Honor as a private 10 in the Marine Corps while serving in the Boxer Rebellion in 11 Tientsin, China, on July 13, 1900. 12 (3) He died on December 9, 1933, and was buried in 13 Arlington National Cemetery. 14 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 15 hereby enacts as follows:
1 Section 1. Bridge in Royalton Borough, Dauphin County. 2 (a) Designation.--The bridge located on Burd Street in the 3 Borough of Royalton, Dauphin County, is hereby designated as the 4 Sgt. Major Clarence Edward Mathias Bridge. 5 (b) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect 6 appropriate signs on the bridge to mark the designation. 7 Section 2.
