A RESOLUTION
1 Declaring the week of February 3 through 8, 2003, as "National
2 Consumer Protection Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, The week of February 3 through 8, 2003, has been
4 designated as "National Consumer Protection Week"; and
5 WHEREAS, The theme for the week of recognition is "Identity
6 Theft - Safeguard Your Personal Information"; and
7 WHEREAS, Identity theft is a serious issue and the
8 consequences of misuse of a person's personal or sensitive
9 information can be devastating; and
10 WHEREAS, Individuals can combat the threat of identity theft
11 by being vigilant of their personal information and taking
12 precautions to protect that information; and
13 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania can also assist in
14 preventing identity theft by employing vigorous law enforcement
15 and by implementing or strengthening identity theft laws, as the
16 General Assembly did with the passage of Act 62 of 2002;
1 therefore be it
2 RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of February 3
3 through 8, 2003, as "National Consumer Protection Week" in
4 Pennsylvania; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That the Senate urge all Pennsylvanians to be
6 mindful of the possibility of identity theft and to take
7 precautions to prevent it.
