A RESOLUTION
1 Proclaiming the year 1999 as "Landscape Architecture Year" in
2 Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, For more than a century, landscape architecture has
4 combined creativity, insight and expertise to enhance the beauty
5 of our Commonwealth; and
6 WHEREAS, This craft is responsible for parks, residential
7 environments and other natural, open spaces; and
8 WHEREAS, The dedicated landscape architects use innovative
9 skills and inventive techniques to alter our natural environment
10 for human use; and
11 WHEREAS, Landscape architecture balances artistic and
12 scientific principles in the planning, designing and managing of
13 natural and built environments; and
14 WHEREAS, Duties of landscape architects include a commitment
15 to preserving the quality of natural landscapes, site planning
16 for private and public lands, conserving historic landscape,
17 creating urban spaces and innumerable others; and
1 WHEREAS, Landscape architecture has made tremendous and
2 lasting contributions to the quality of life in Pennsylvania in
3 the design of community centers, plazas and streetscapes that
4 bring new life and rejuvenate communities; and
5 WHEREAS, For the past century, the American Society of
6 Landscape Architects has promoted the education and
7 professionalism of landscape architects in the practice of their
8 work to enhance the quality of life in this Commonwealth;
9 therefore be it
10 RESOLVED, That the Senate proclaim the year 1999 as
11 "Landscape Architecture Year" in Pennsylvania in special
12 recognition of the centennial year of the American Society of
13 Landscape Architects.
