A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the month of February 2005 as "National Heritage 2 Month" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The birthplace of the United States upon adoption of 4 the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union on July 9, 5 1778, was the City of York, York County; and 6 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth played a prominent role in the 7 early development of our nation and continues to exert a 8 powerful influence on its development; and 9 WHEREAS, The United States is rich in its history by virtue 10 of the citizens of this Commonwealth who have participated in 11 its progress and defended its freedoms; and 12 WHEREAS, The residents of this Commonwealth should join in 13 appreciating our national heritage and the sacrifices of our 14 armed forces in defending our nation; and 15 WHEREAS, Sertoma International is an international charity 16 that partners with its nationwide organization, the Sertoma 17 Foundation, and local clubs to promote service to mankind by
1 providing assistance to more than 24 million Americans who 2 experience speech and hearing disorders; and 3 WHEREAS, The Sertoma Foundation and Sertoma Club of York 4 demonstrate their deep appreciation for the rich heritage of our 5 nation by celebrating February 2005 as "National Heritage 6 Month"; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of February 8 2005 as "National Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania.
