A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of April 2015 as "Distracted Driving
Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Distracted driving is any activity that could divert
a person's attention from the primary task of driving; and
WHEREAS, All distractions endanger driver, passenger and
bystander safety; and
WHEREAS, Distracted driving occurs any time someone takes
their eyes off the road, their hands off the wheel and their
mind off their primary task of driving; and
WHEREAS, Studies show that texting simultaneously involves
manual, visual and mental distraction and is among the worst of
all driver distractions; and
WHEREAS, Distracted driving is not confined to a single
cause, age group, level of education or driver demographic; and
WHEREAS, While distracted driving can take many forms and
affects all road users, young drivers are at particular risk;
and
