A RESOLUTION 1 Designating June 10, 1997, as "Guide Dog Day" in Pennsylvania. 2 WHEREAS, Guide dogs vest visually impaired persons with a 3 sense of independence and dignity; and 4 WHEREAS, Canines chosen to undergo guide dog training have 5 demonstrated intelligence, dependability and confidence in all 6 environments; and 7 WHEREAS, These remarkable creatures undergo an intensive 8 program of instruction during which they are taught, among other 9 skills, to discern left from right, how to pull in harness and 10 to stop at all curbs and steps; and 11 WHEREAS, Guide dogs assist people with disabilities in 12 addition to vision loss, such as hearing loss and orthopedic 13 problems; and 14 WHEREAS, These mannerly, well-adjusted dogs have enabled 15 countless people to lead fuller, more active lives; therefore be 16 it
