           LOGAN, ORIE, MURPHY, WAGNER, TOMLINSON, TARTAGLIONE, LAVALLE,
           BOSCOLA, ARMSTRONG, STOUT, M. WHITE, SCHWARTZ, O'PAKE,
           GREENLEAF, WAUGH, KITCHEN, COSTA AND MUSTO, APRIL 23, 2001

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, APRIL 23, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of April 22 through 28, 2001, as "Volunteer
     2     Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The demands of everyday life make it increasingly
     4  difficult for people to find the time to volunteer; and
     5     WHEREAS, Despite these demands, thousands of individuals
     6  offer their services and time to various endeavors without
     7  expectation of any personal remuneration other than the
     8  satisfaction of knowing that they have helped others; and
     9     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians of every age, race, sex, national
    10  origin and economic status volunteer in their communities every
    11  day; and
    12     WHEREAS, The untiring work and dedication of volunteers,
    13  while certainly appreciated, too often goes without adequate
    14  recognition of the valuable contributions volunteers make; and
    15     WHEREAS, Every community in this Commonwealth has an unmet
    16  need or task that one more volunteer can meet; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize volunteers in this

     1  Commonwealth by designating the week of April 22 through 28,
     2  2001, as "Volunteer Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania and urge
     3  Pennsylvanians to honor volunteers by joining them in making a
     4  difference.
