A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of May 7 through 13, 1989, as "Small 2 Business Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Small businesses are the backbone of Pennsylvania's 4 economy; and 5 WHEREAS, Through entrepreneurship and innovation, small 6 independent companies test untapped markets for new products and 7 services and contribute to the competitive marketplace in such a 8 way as to improve efficiency, thus benefiting the consumer and 9 spurring economic growth; and 10 WHEREAS, Small businesses also provide job opportunities for 11 thousands of men and women, further aiding Pennsylvania's 12 economy; and 13 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is committed to encouraging the 14 development of new small businesses throughout the State; and 15 WHEREAS, The creativity, confidence and skills of small 16 business men and women help ensure that Pennsylvania will
1 continue to grow and prosper in freedom and opportunity; and 2 WHEREAS, "Small Business Week," which is being celebrated on 3 the national and state levels, is an appropriate time to commend 4 the thousands of men and women involved in small businesses for 5 a job well done; therefore be it 6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 designate the week of May 7 through 13, 1989, as "Small Business 8 Week" in Pennsylvania.
