AN ACT
1 Amending the act of November 13, 1995 (P.L.604, No.61), entitled
2 "An act establishing the State Fire Commissioner within the
3 Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency; transferring the
4 Volunteer Loan Assistance Program and the State Fire Academy
5 to the State Fire Commissioner; and making repeals," further
6 providing for the appointment of the Pennsylvania State Fire
7 Commissioner.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 3(c) of the act of November 13, 1995
11 (P.L.604, No.61), known as the State Fire Commissioner Act, is
12 amended to read:

15 (c) Qualifications and appointment.--The commissioner shall
16 be a person who, by reason of training, experience and
17 attainment, is qualified to coordinate fire prevention and
18 control activities. The commissioner shall be appointed by the
19 Governor after consultation with the fire service community and
20 with the advice and consent of a majority of the members elected
1 to the Senate. The commissioner shall act as the Commonwealth's
2 primary representative with the Statewide fire service
3 community.
4 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
