A RESOLUTION 1 Designating February 2 through 9, 1998, as "Boy Scout Week" in 2 Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The concept of scouting was created by Lord Baden- 4 Powell over 88 years ago; and 5 WHEREAS, The world scouting movement has made significant 6 contributions to our nation and this Commonwealth; and 7 WHEREAS, The first man to walk on the moon, astronaut Neil 8 Armstrong, was an Eagle Scout; and 9 WHEREAS, Many of our past leaders, including presidents, 10 congressmen, judges and clergy, were members of the scouting 11 movement; and 12 WHEREAS, Scouting has emphasized leadership and service in 13 communities, schools and families for the past 88 years; 14 therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the Senate designate February 2 through 9, 16 1998, as "Boy Scout Week" in Pennsylvania.
