A RESOLUTION 1 Commending the Community College of Philadelphia, the Bucks 2 County Community College, the Delaware County Community 3 College, the Montgomery County Community College, the Camden 4 County College and Drexel University for forming the 5 Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development. 6 WHEREAS, The Community College of Philadelphia, the Bucks 7 County Community College, the Delaware County Community College, 8 the Montgomery County Community College, the Camden County 9 College and Drexel University have meritoriously developed a 10 competency-based training program for professionals responsible 11 for security and public safety with the enthusiastic support of 12 local businesses, government agencies, county emergency services 13 coordinators, health care institutions, fire and rescue 14 organizations and law enforcement agencies; and 15 WHEREAS, In the wake of September 11, 2001, our nation and 16 State have devoted considerable and unprecedented concern to 17 security, public safety and the advanced training of first 18 responders, including police officers, firefighters and
1 emergency medical technicians; and 2 WHEREAS, The consortium has become nationally recognized for 3 operating for the express purpose of utilizing resources of the 4 colleges and university to deliver cost-effective education and 5 training programs and other services for businesses and 6 industries in support of economic development; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the Senate commend the Community College of 8 Philadelphia, the Bucks County Community College, the Delaware 9 County Community College, the Montgomery County Community 10 College, the Camden County College and Drexel University for 11 forming the Collegiate Consortium for Workforce and Economic 12 Development, recognized as a leader in creating curricula for 13 the advanced training of public safety and security 14 professionals, and recommend that all sources of Federal 15 homeland security funding be pursued in support of its efforts.
