AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of July 8, 1957 (P.L.569, No.317), entitled "An 
2act providing compensation to certain persons who served in 
3the military, naval or air forces of the United States or of 
4any of her allies during the Korean Conflict; providing the 
5method of making payment to representatives of persons who, 
6because of death or incapacity, cannot personally receive 
7compensation; imposing certain duties on the Adjutant 
8General; making an appropriation and providing penalties," 
9extending the time period for filing applications for 
10compensation.

11The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12hereby enacts as follows:

13Section 1.  Section 5 of the act of July 8, 1957 (P.L.569, 
14No.317), known as the Korean Conflict Veterans' Compensation 
15Act, amended September 1, 1965 (P.L.434, No.219), is amended to 
16read:

17Section 5.  Application for Compensation.--Applications for
18compensation shall be made to the Adjutant General on forms and
19in the manner as he shall prescribe.

20Applicants shall state on their application whether or not

1they have applied for, or received, a bonus, gratuity or
2compensation of a nature similar to that provided for by this
3act from any other state in the Union or any allies of the
4United States.

5All applications shall be made (1) personally by the veteran,
6or (2) in case of death or mental incompetency preventing the
7making of a personal application, then by such representative of
8the veteran as the Adjutant General shall by regulation
9prescribe. An application made by a representative other than
10one authorized by such regulation shall be held void.

11The Adjutant General shall not accept or consider any
12application filed or mailed after December 31, [1966.] 2015.

13Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
