A RESOLUTION
1 Designating the week of December 3 through 7, 2001, as "Dream
2 Come True Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Dream Come True is a tax-exempt, nonprofit
4 organization founded in 1984 by businessman Kostas
5 Kalogeropoulous to fulfill the dreams of children in the greater
6 Lehigh Valley area who are seriously, chronically and terminally
7 ill; and
8 WHEREAS, Dream Come True is fulfilling 50 dreams each year
9 and has fulfilled the dreams of more than 720 seriously ill
10 children since 1984; and
11 WHEREAS, Children from all income levels have enjoyed having
12 their dream fulfilled, whether the child requests a once-in-a-
13 lifetime trip, contact with a favorite celebrity or special
14 gifts such as a computer, shopping spree or redecorated bedroom;
15 and
16 WHEREAS, The great work of Dream Come True has brought
17 happiness to the lives of children with terminal illness and
1 children whose illness has significantly altered their quality
2 of life; and
3 WHEREAS, It is fitting to commend Dream Come True for its
4 tireless mission of compassion for Pennsylvania's children and
5 to recognize the dedicated people who volunteer their time and
6 effort to make so many dreams come true for so many seriously
7 ill children; therefore be it
8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania designate the week
9 of December 3 through 7, 2001, as "Dream Come True Week" in
10 Pennsylvania.
