        INTRODUCED BY MURPHY, BRIGHTBILL, BELL, LEMMOND, GREENLEAF,
           O'PAKE, WENGER, ROBBINS, KUKOVICH, BOSCOLA, RHOADES, WAGNER,
           WOZNIAK, KITCHEN, THOMPSON, EARLL, TOMLINSON, ERICKSON,
           COSTA, LOGAN, ORIE, TARTAGLIONE, C. WILLIAMS, FUMO, SCARNATI,
           DENT, D. WHITE AND STACK, MARCH 12, 2002

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, MARCH 12, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 6, 2002, as "Tartan Day" in Pennsylvania.

     2     WHEREAS, Many outstanding contributions have been made by
     3  Scots and Americans of Scottish descent to the heritage of
     4  America and this Commonwealth; and
     5     WHEREAS, Scottish independence occurred on April 6, 1320, and
     6  special recognition should be made of this important date;
     7  therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate April 6, 2002, as "Tartan
     9  Day" in Pennsylvania and call upon the people of this
    10  Commonwealth to recognize those Americans of Scottish descent
    11  who have played such an important role in developing our nation
    12  and our Commonwealth, and to observe this day with appropriate
    13  honors and ceremonies.
