           C. WILLIAMS, PUNT, COSTA, TOMLINSON, KASUNIC, FONTANA, MUSTO,
           LOGAN, ROBBINS, PILEGGI, WOZNIAK, ERICKSON, BAKER, STOUT,
           O'PAKE, ARMSTRONG, GREENLEAF, PIPPY, FOLMER, RAFFERTY, ORIE,
           FUMO, KITCHEN, BRUBAKER, REGOLA, D. WHITE, EARLL AND

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, SEPTEMBER 28, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of October 2007 as "Disability Employment
     2     Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with disabilities are integral,
     4  contributing, productive and valued citizens of this
     5  Commonwealth; and
     6     WHEREAS, The majority of nonworking people with disabilities
     7  want to be employed but they are prevented from working by
     8  numerous obstacles; and
     9     WHEREAS, Businesses which employ people with disabilities
    10  many times report an increased level of productivity due to the
    11  motivation of the individual; and
    12     WHEREAS, By encouraging and promoting the employment as well
    13  as the job-readiness of people with disabilities, we are
    14  increasing the ability of those individuals to obtain greater
    15  independence, thereby enabling more people to become more
    16  involved in all aspects of our society; and

     1     WHEREAS, With higher employment rates of people with
     2  disabilities, every individual, business and industry in this
     3  Commonwealth will benefit; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of October 2007
     5  as "Disability Employment Awareness Month"; and be it further
     6     RESOLVED, That the Senate call upon the citizens of this
     7  Commonwealth to work toward improving the employment status and
     8  job-readiness of people with disabilities; and be it further
     9     RESOLVED, That the Senate celebrate the accomplishments of
    10  workers with disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to
    11  ensuring that the opportunities of our Commonwealth are
    12  available and accessible to every citizen.
