SENATE RESOLUTION

           KASUNIC, WENGER, COSTA, DENT, TARTAGLIONE, STAPLETON,
           THOMPSON AND BOSCOLA, SEPTEMBER 26, 2000

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, SEPTEMBER 26, 2000

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing September 18 through 22, 2000, as "National Payroll
     2     Week" in Pennsylvania and expressing worker and payroll
     3     professional appreciation.

     4     WHEREAS, Millions of Pennsylvanians rely on payroll
     5  professionals for timely payment of their paycheck and accurate
     6  computation and distribution of payroll deductions; and
     7     WHEREAS, The American Payroll Association and its 18,500
     8  members have launched a nationwide public awareness campaign to
     9  pay tribute to the more than 135 million workers in the United
    10  States who contribute in so many ways to the well-being of their
    11  families and the economy and who pay for services that are
    12  enjoyed by and that benefit the general public; and
    13     WHEREAS, Payroll professionals in this Commonwealth play a
    14  key role in maintaining this Commonwealth's economic health by
    15  ensuring proper payments for health care premiums, social
    16  security, pensions, unemployment compensation and deductions for
    17  child support; and
    18     WHEREAS, Because of the increase in the number of one-parent

     1  families, payroll professionals play a role of increasing
     2  importance relating to child support, identifying noncustodial
     3  parents and making proper and timely deductions; and
     4     WHEREAS, September 18 through 22, 2000, has been proclaimed
     5  "National Payroll Week"; therefore be it
     6     RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize September 18 through 22,
     7  2000, as "National Payroll Week" in Pennsylvania and pay tribute
     8  to the millions of workers who contribute in so many ways to the
     9  well-being of their families and our State; and be it further
    10     RESOLVED, That the Senate acknowledge the thousands of
    11  payroll professionals who work conscientiously to ensure proper
    12  and timely payroll payments to workers and to make accurate and
    13  necessary deductions for employee benefits, including child
    14  support; and be it further
    15     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    16  the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Payroll Association.
