           LAVALLE, EARLL, RHOADES, COSTA, DENT, LEMMOND, LOGAN,
           THOMPSON, STOUT, SCARNATI, KUKOVICH, ERICKSON, MELLOW,
           BOSCOLA, MUSTO, O'PAKE, SCHWARTZ, TARTAGLIONE, WAGNER,
           KASUNIC, KITCHEN AND MURPHY, APRIL 29, 2002

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, APRIL 29, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the month of May 2002 as "Community Action Month" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Community action agencies in this Commonwealth
     4  provide outreach to low-income individuals and families through
     5  locally designed projects and coordinated programs addressing
     6  multiple needs: day care, job training and placement, food,
     7  transportation, education and weatherization; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Community Action Association of Pennsylvania and
     9  the 43 community action agencies in this Commonwealth mobilize
    10  resources, establish partnerships and promote public policies
    11  identifying and finding solutions for poverty conditions and
    12  enabling low-income residents of this Commonwealth to achieve
    13  self-sufficiency; therefore be it
    14     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of May 2002 as
    15  "Community Action Month" in Pennsylvania.
