SENATE RESOLUTION

No. 225 Session of 2000


        INTRODUCED BY MOWERY, COSTA, MURPHY, WHITE, TOMLINSON,
           TARTAGLIONE, O'PAKE, FUMO, WENGER, DENT, BOSCOLA AND LEMMOND,
           OCTOBER 11, 2000

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, OCTOBER 11, 2000

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring October 22 through 28, 2000, as "Reflexology Week" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Reflexology is a science which deals with the
     4  principle that there are reflexes in the feet relative to each
     5  organ and all parts of the body and that proper stimulation of
     6  these reflexes can help many health problems; and
     7     WHEREAS, The idea behind reflexology was practiced as early
     8  as 2330 B.C. by the Egyptian culture; and
     9     WHEREAS, The pioneer of this field in modern times was Eunice
    10  Ingham, whose first book on the subject was published in 1938;
    11  and
    12     WHEREAS, The Original Ingham Method of reflexology is used
    13  primarily to relax tension, improve nerve and blood supply and
    14  promote natural healing; and
    15     WHEREAS, Since 1942, reflexology seminars have been conducted
    16  year-round on a worldwide scale for laymen and professionals;
    17  and


     1     WHEREAS, It is appropriate to acknowledge reflexology among
     2  the health care choices available to the citizens of this
     3  Commonwealth; therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the Senate declare October 22 through 28,
     5  2000, as "Reflexology Week" in Pennsylvania.
