           WENGER, AFFLERBACH, BELL, BODACK, CONTI, COSTA, GERLACH,
           GREENLEAF, HELFRICK, HOLL, KASUNIC, LEMMOND, MELLOW, MOWERY,
           MURPHY, MUSTO, O'PAKE, PUNT, RHOADES, ROBBINS, SALVATORE,
           SCHWARTZ, SLOCUM, STAPLETON, STOUT, TILGHMAN, TOMLINSON,
           WAGNER AND BELAN, SEPTEMBER 29, 1998

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, SEPTEMBER 29, 1998

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring the week of October 18 through 24, 1998, as
     2     "Businesswomen's Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania seeks to extol the distinguished
     4  accomplishments of women in this Commonwealth, past and present,
     5  who have worked with vision and determination to progress the
     6  proud tradition of women in business and the professions; and
     7     WHEREAS, These women who endeavored to attain the highest
     8  standards of excellence remind us of the struggles, the
     9  obstacles and the omnipresent need to promote positive change
    10  throughout our Commonwealth; and
    11     WHEREAS, Women in Pennsylvania successfully started
    12  businesses, became professionals and embraced the challenge of
    13  succeeding with incontrovertible skill, intelligence and
    14  ability; and
    15     WHEREAS, The citizens of this Commonwealth owe an
    16  inexpressible debt of gratitude to these dedicated women for

     1  their invaluable contributions to the business and professional
     2  worlds, their families, their communities and this Commonwealth;
     3  therefore be it
     4     RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania, in special
     5  recognition of women in business and the professions, declare
     6  October 18 through 24, 1998, as "Businesswomen's Week" in
     7  Pennsylvania and recognize the invaluable contributions made by
     8  women in business and the professions.
