        INTRODUCED BY BRIGHTBILL, THOMPSON, HOLL, WENGER, GREENLEAF,
           COSTA, TOMLINSON, BOSCOLA, EARLL, MOWERY, WHITE, STOUT, PUNT,
           ROBBINS, TILGHMAN, DENT, HELFRICK, MADIGAN, MURPHY AND
           LEMMOND, NOVEMBER 21, 2000

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, NOVEMBER 21, 2000

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring the week of January 14 through 20, 2001, as
     2     "Snowmobile Safety Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The family sport of snowmobiling is enjoyed by more
     4  than 150,000 men, women and children in this Commonwealth; and
     5     WHEREAS, Snowmobiling represents a facet within the
     6  Commonwealth winter tourism industry, contributing in excess of
     7  $160 million to the State's economy; and
     8     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association and
     9  the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources have joined
    10  together to educate the snowmobiling public as to safe and
    11  responsible snowmobiling for more than 25 years; and
    12     WHEREAS, Responsible riding practices such as avoiding
    13  alcohol and operating at safe speeds make Pennsylvania's
    14  snowmobiling experience safe and enjoyable; therefore be it
    15     RESOLVED, That the Senate declare the week of January 14
    16  through 20, 2001, as "Snowmobile Safety Awareness Week" in
    17  Pennsylvania.
