A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring the week of January 14 through 20, 2001, as 2 "Snowmobile Safety Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The family sport of snowmobiling is enjoyed by more 4 than 150,000 men, women and children in this Commonwealth; and 5 WHEREAS, Snowmobiling represents a facet within the 6 Commonwealth winter tourism industry, contributing in excess of 7 $160 million to the State's economy; and 8 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association and 9 the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources have joined 10 together to educate the snowmobiling public as to safe and 11 responsible snowmobiling for more than 25 years; and 12 WHEREAS, Responsible riding practices such as avoiding 13 alcohol and operating at safe speeds make Pennsylvania's 14 snowmobiling experience safe and enjoyable; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the Senate declare the week of January 14 16 through 20, 2001, as "Snowmobile Safety Awareness Week" in 17 Pennsylvania.
