WHEREAS, Clean energy jobs in Pennsylvania added 5,000 jobs
in 2018, which is five times faster than the overall economic
growth in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, More than 5,000 Chester County residents work in
clean and renewable energy jobs and more than 3,500 work in the
energy efficiency sector in local, well-paying jobs that cannot
be outsourced, and by increasing efficiency, more of these jobs
are created; and
WHEREAS, For cities and states tackling harmful pollution,
energy efficiency can help reach climate goals and is the
foundational step in assessing the need for local renewable
energy generation; and
WHEREAS, A nationwide and Statewide network of energy
efficiency groups and partners is designating the first
Wednesday in October each year as "Energy Efficiency Day" and
October 19 as "Clean Energy/Solar Tour Day" in Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Together, the residents of this Commonwealth can
continue to contribute to our sustainability efforts by learning
more about energy efficiency, practicing smarter energy use in
their daily lives, installing renewable energy and purchasing
electricity from a renewable energy provider; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize October 2, 2019, as
"Energy Efficiency Day" and October 19, 2019, as " Clean
Energy/Solar Tour Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate urge residents to join us in
supporting our clean energy goals and moving toward energy
efficiency and renewable energy now and in the future.
