A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of November 2015 as "Epilepsy Awareness
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Epilepsy affects more than 200,000 Pennsylvanians;
and
WHEREAS, Epilepsy is one of the world's oldest known medical
conditions; and
WHEREAS, Epilepsy is not a widely understood medical
condition; and
WHEREAS, Diagnoses of this chronic brain condition often
leads to fear, discrimination and isolation; and
WHEREAS, As the third most common neurological disorder in
the United States, following stroke and Alzheimer's disease,
epilepsy affects 5 million Americans of all ages; and
WHEREAS, Approximately 200,000 new cases of epilepsy are
diagnosed each year, most often in young children or senior
citizens; and
WHEREAS, One in ten Americans will experience a seizure at
