        INTRODUCED BY LOGAN, TARTAGLIONE, STOUT, KUKOVICH, MURPHY,
           MUSTO, WAGNER, LAVALLE, MELLOW, COSTA, O'PAKE, BODACK,
           C. WILLIAMS, TOMLINSON, WOZNIAK, A. WILLIAMS, EARLL,
           SCHWARTZ, KITCHEN AND HUGHES, JUNE 18, 2002

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, JUNE 18, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring the week of June 30 through July 6, 2002, as "Parents
     2     Without Partners Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Parents Without Partners was founded in 1957 in New
     4  York City by two single parents: Jim Egleson, a noncustodial
     5  parent, and Jacqueline Bernard, a custodial parent, who felt
     6  isolated from society because of their marital status and
     7  decided to form a mutual support organization; and
     8     WHEREAS, Parents Without Partners, Inc., is now the largest
     9  international, nonprofit membership organization devoted to the
    10  welfare and interests of single parents and their children; and
    11     WHEREAS, Single parents of all ages, male or female,
    12  custodial or noncustodial, separated, divorced, widowed or never
    13  married, may join one of approximately 400 chapters; therefore
    14  be it
    15     RESOLVED, That the Senate honor Parents Without Partners by
    16  declaring the week of June 30 through July 6, 2002, as "Parents
    17  Without Partners Week" in Pennsylvania.
