1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, in inspection of vehicles, further providing for
3requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1.  Section 4702(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes, amended October 24, 2012 (P.L.    ,
8No.174), is amended to read:

9§ 4702.  Requirement for periodic inspection of vehicles.

10(a)  Annual safety inspection.--

11(1)  Except as provided in subsection (b), the department
12shall establish a system of annual safety inspection of
13vehicles, including emergency vehicles, farm vehicles with a
14gross weight or gross vehicle weight rating of greater than
1517,000 pounds for which a Type D biennial certificate of
16exemption has been issued and private noncommercial vehicles
17used to transport students.

18(2)  The system of annual safety inspection shall provide

1that the certificate of inspection on a new vehicle shall
2expire at the end of the 12th month following the expiration
3of the initial registration of the vehicle by the consumer.
