A RESOLUTION 1 Proclaiming June 2004 as "Optimist International Childhood 2 Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Cancer takes the lives of more children than any 4 other disease today; and 5 WHEREAS, IN 2003, 10,000 children in North America were 6 diagnosed with cancer; and 7 WHEREAS, One-third of those children with cancer will die; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, Childhood cancers affect children from every 10 socioeconomic background; and 11 WHEREAS, Optimist International prides itself on "Bringing 12 Out the Best in Kids" and is firmly dedicated to ridding the 13 world of childhood cancers through the Childhood Cancer 14 Campaign; therefore be it 15 RESOLVED, That the Senate proclaim June 2004 as "Optomist 16 International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania
