        INTRODUCED BY RAFFERTY, MUSTO, BOSCOLA, LAVALLE, WONDERLING,
           ORIE, FERLO, STOUT, LOGAN, STACK, COSTA, KITCHEN, REGOLA,
           C. WILLIAMS, TARTAGLIONE, ERICKSON, PIPPY, MADIGAN, PUNT,
           WENGER, KASUNIC, GREENLEAF, CONTI, MELLOW, BROWNE, DINNIMAN,
           FONTANA, PICCOLA, RHOADES, GORDNER, D. WHITE, BRIGHTBILL AND
           O'PAKE, OCTOBER 17, 2006

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, OCTOBER 17, 2006

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing November 2, 2006, as "SADD Day" in Pennsylvania and
     2     commending this outstanding program on its 25th anniversary.

     3     WHEREAS, Students Against Destructive Decisions, known as
     4  SADD, was founded in 1981 and is celebrating its 25th
     5  anniversary in 2006; and
     6     WHEREAS, Since SADD's founding, the number of alcohol-related
     7  youth car crash fatalities has dropped by nearly 60%; and
     8     WHEREAS, SADD is the nation's premier youth peer-to-peer
     9  prevention education organization, with nearly 10,000 chapters
    10  across the United States, 350,000 active student members and 7
    11  million students in schools with SADD chapters; and
    12     WHEREAS, SADD has a strong presence in Pennsylvania, with 717
    13  chapters in middle schools and high schools Statewide; and
    14     WHEREAS, SADD shares the goal of this Senate to keep youths
    15  safe and has made a difference in the lives of many young people
    16  in this Commonwealth; and

     1     WHEREAS, SADD has been lighting the way for 25 years in
     2  reducing destructive decisions by youths, including underage
     3  drinking, tobacco and other drug use, impaired and reckless
     4  driving, violence and suicide; and
     5     WHEREAS, On Thursday, November 2, 2006, SADD is celebrating
     6  its 25th anniversary with a special event called "SADD Turns 25:
     7  Lighting the Way," involving students, teachers, parents and
     8  other community members; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize November 2, 2006, as
    10  "SADD Day" in Pennsylvania and commend this outstanding program
    11  on its 25th anniversary.
