        INTRODUCED BY ORIE, RAFFERTY, PILEGGI, BAKER, COSTA, FONTANA,
           BOSCOLA, STACK, WASHINGTON, FERLO, TOMLINSON, KASUNIC,
           O'PAKE, C. WILLIAMS, ERICKSON, MADIGAN, MUSTO, DINNIMAN,
           TARTAGLIONE, PUNT, LAVALLE, LOGAN, BRUBAKER, EARLL,
           GREENLEAF, FUMO, PICCOLA AND PIPPY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2008

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, SEPTEMBER 22, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating the lives of those persons killed by intoxicated
     2     drivers and urging observance of October 2, 2008, as "DUI
     3     Victims' Memorial Day."

     4     WHEREAS, More than 500 people are killed every year in this
     5  Commonwealth because of intoxicated drivers; and
     6     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania DUI Association has been battling
     7  drunk driving for the past 29 years and has helped the DUI death
     8  rate drop from over 700 people in 1988 to just over 500 people
     9  in 2007; and
    10     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania DUI Association honors victims of
    11  intoxicated drivers by maintaining the DUI Victims' Memorial
    12  Garden at 2413 North Front Street in Harrisburg; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the Senate observe October 2, 2008, as "DUI
    14  Victims' Memorial Day" and commemorate the lives of those
    15  persons killed by intoxicated drivers.
