                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Sergeant First Class Daniel A. Brozovich, a
     3     member of the 1st Battalion, 107th Field Artillery Battalion,
     4     28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard, who
     5     tragically lost his life in service to our country in Iraq on
     6     October 18, 2006.

     7     WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Daniel Anthony Brozovich was
     8  born on April 20, 1964, in Greenville, Mercer County; and
     9     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich was a resident of
    10  Greenville, Mercer County, and employed as a general foreman by
    11  the State Regional Correctional Facility at Mercer; and
    12     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich served as an active duty
    13  United States Marine from 1982 to 1986; and
    14     WHEREAS, After his service in the United States Marine Corps,
    15  Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich joined the Pennsylvania Army National
    16  Guard and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 107th Field
    17  Artillery Battalion, 28th Infantry Division in New Castle,
    18  Lawrence County; and
    19     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich deployed to Europe in 2002


     1  providing security at NATO military installations as part of the
     2  Task Force Keystone and deployed to Iraq in 2004 supporting
     3  military police operations; and
     4     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich deployed for his most
     5  recent tour of combat in September 2006, and was assigned to the
     6  1st Battalion, 213th Air Defense Artillery, based out of Spring
     7  City, Chester County; and
     8     WHEREAS, On October 18, 2006, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich was
     9  the commander of an M-1117 armored security vehicle and was on a
    10  multivehicle patrol in Ashraf, Iraq, when a roadside bomb
    11  detonated near the vehicle, killing him and injuring Specialist
    12  Ryan Griffin, Pittsburgh, Specialist Robert Kaminski, Allison
    13  Park and Private Joshua Humberger, Grapeville; and
    14     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich was awarded the Army
    15  Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on
    16  Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces
    17  Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal and
    18  posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Action
    19  Badge; and
    20     WHEREAS, Sgt. 1st Class Brozovich is survived by his loving
    21  wife Mary Brozovich, his son Ryan D. Brozovich, his stepdaughter
    22  Carrie Negrich, his father Anthony J. Brozovich and his wife
    23  Elizabeth, his mother Gloria Coda Pollock and her husband James,
    24  his brothers Barry and David Brozovich, his brothers-in-law
    25  Richard Stevens, Jr., and Michael Stevens and many other
    26  relatives; and
    27     WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of this
    28  young man and recognize his love of country, indomitable
    29  courage, voracious spirit, capacity to love and exemplary record
    30  of service; therefore be it

     1     RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the life and extend
     2  condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Sergeant First Class
     3  Daniel A. Brozovich, a member of the 1st Battalion, 107th Field
     4  Artillery Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania
     5  National Guard, who tragically lost his life in service to our
     6  country in Iraq on October 18, 2006.
