                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Army Specialist Timothy J. Lauer, a member of
     3     the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th
     4     Infantry Division, who tragically lost his life in service to
     5     our country in Iraq on October 14, 2006.

     6     WHEREAS, Specialist Lauer was born September 30, 1981; and
     7     WHEREAS, Specialist Lauer was a 2000 graduate of the Crawford
     8  County Vocational-Technical School and Cochranton Junior-Senior
     9  High School, where he participated in baseball and football; and
    10     WHEREAS, Specialist Lauer enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting
    11  and playing cards; and
    12     WHEREAS, Spec. Lauer attended Blooming Valley United
    13  Methodist Church in Meadville, Crawford County; and
    14     WHEREAS, Spec. Lauer served as a member of the 1st Battalion,
    15  67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, based
    16  out of Fort Hood, Texas; and
    17     WHEREAS, On October 14, 2006, Spec. Lauer was on a convoy
    18  resupply mission in Baghdad, Iraq, when a roadside bomb
    19  detonated near the vehicle, killing him; and

     1     WHEREAS, Spec. Lauer was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star
     2  and Purple Heart; and
     3     WHEREAS, Spec. Lauer is survived by his loving wife Valerie
     4  Lauer, his stepchildren Charity Covell, Stephanie Covell, Carrie
     5  Covell and Jordan Covell, his father Vincent Lauer, his mother
     6  Deborah Dye and many other family members; and
     7     WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the tragic loss of this
     8  young man and recognize his love of life, indomitable courage,
     9  enduring spirit and exemplary record of service; therefore be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the life and extend
    11  condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Army Specialist Timothy
    12  J. Lauer, a member of the 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment,
    13  2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, who tragically lost his life
    14  in service to our country in Iraq on October 14, 2006.
