AN ACT 1 Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled, as 2 reenacted and amended, "An act concerning townships of the 3 second class; and amending, revising, consolidating and 4 changing the law relating thereto," providing for 5 compensation of auditors for attendance at conferences, 6 institutes, schools and conventions. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 607 of the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, 10 No.69), known as The Second Class Township Code, reenacted and 11 amended November 9, 1995 (P.L.350, No.60), is amended to read: 12 Section 607. Duties of Supervisors.--The board of 13 supervisors shall: 14 (1) Be charged with the general governance of the township 15 and the execution of legislative, executive and administrative 16 powers in order to ensure sound fiscal management and to secure 17 the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the township. 18 (2) Have the responsibility for maintenance of township- 19 owned equipment and facilities.
1 (3) Employ persons as may be necessary for the general 2 conduct of the business of the township and provide for the 3 compensation, organization and supervision of the persons so 4 employed. Records shall be kept and reports made and filed 5 giving the names of all persons employed, dates on which work 6 was done and the number of hours worked with compensation paid 7 to each person and the capacity in which employed. 8 (4) Authorize attendance at conferences, institutes, schools 9 and conventions. Any supervisor, elected or appointed officer or 10 township employe may if directed by the board of supervisors 11 attend any conference, institute, school or convention dealing 12 with the duties and functions of elected or appointed officers 13 or employes. The expenses for attending the meetings may be paid 14 by the township and are limited to the registration fee, mileage 15 for the use of a personal vehicle or reimbursement of actual 16 transportation expense going to and returning from the meeting 17 plus all other actual expenses that the board of supervisors 18 agrees to pay. Every attendee shall submit to the board of 19 supervisors an itemized account of expenses incurred at the 20 meeting. The board of supervisors may authorize employes to be 21 compensated at their regular employe rate, and auditors to be 22 compensated at the rate of seven dollars ($7) TEN DOLLARS ($10) <-- 23 for each hour up to a maximum of five hours per day, during 24 their attendance at the meeting. 25 (5) Annually, on or before the first day of February, 26 furnish to the board of auditors information on the construction 27 or maintenance of roads or other matters that may be required by 28 any department of the Commonwealth to be included in the annual 29 township report. 30 (6) Provide for the annual tax duplicate to be prepared and 19990S0708B1405 - 2 -
