AN ACT 1 Amending Title 62 (Procurement) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for procurement of motor 3 vehicles. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 3731(b)(5) of Title 62 of the 7 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 3731. Short title of subchapter and general provisions. 9 * * * 10 (b) Legislative findings.--It is hereby determined by the 11 General Assembly to reaffirm the legislative findings contained 12 in the act of April 4, 1984 (P.L.193, No.40), known as the Motor 13 Vehicle Procurement Act, and codified in this chapter: 14 * * * 15 (5) The production of motor vehicles and motor vehicle 16 components [in Canada] involves the use of a substantial 17 amount of resources from the United States, including labor 18 and materials. The General Assembly declares it to be the
1 policy of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that public 2 officers and agencies should aid and promote the development 3 of the motor vehicle industry of North America to stimulate 4 and improve the economic well-being of this Commonwealth and 5 its citizens. 6 * * * 7 Section 2. Section 3732 of Title 62, amended December 3, 8 2002 (P.L.1147, No.142), is amended to read: 9 § 3732. Definitions. 10 The following words and phrases when used in this subchapter 11 shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the 12 context clearly indicates otherwise: 13 "Motor vehicle." A passenger car or a truck as those terms 14 are defined under 75 Pa.C.S. § 102 (relating to definitions). 15 "North America." The United States, Canada and Mexico. The 16 United States includes all territory, continental or insular, 17 subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. 18 "Procure." To acquire by purchase, lease or rent.
