                               A JOINT RESOLUTION

     1  Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
     2     of Pennsylvania providing for ineligibility to hold office.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby resolves as follows:
     5     Section 1.  The following amendment to the Constitution of
     6  the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with
     7  the provisions of the eleventh article thereof:
     8     That section seven of article two of the Constitution of the
     9  Commonwealth of Pennsylvania be amended to read:
    10     Section 7.  Ineligibility by Criminal Convictions.--No person
    11  hereafter convicted of embezzlement of public moneys, bribery,
    12  perjury, or other infamous crime, shall be eligible to the
    13  General Assembly, or capable of holding any office of trust or
    14  profit in this Commonwealth and upon sentence shall cease to be
    15  a member of the General Assembly or hold any such office. In the
    16  event that the conviction is reversed upon appeal, such person
    17  shall again be eligible for election or appointment to public
    18  office unless he has also been expelled from the General

     1  Assembly for corruption or convicted by the Senate in a trial of
     2  impeachment.
