AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
3 collection of court costs, restitution and fines by private
4 collection agency.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 9730.1(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
9 § 9730.1. Collection of court costs, restitution and fines by
10 private collection agency.
11 (a) Generally.--In accordance with section 9730(b)(1) and
12 (2) (relating to payment of court costs, restitution and fines),
13 an issuing authority may refer the collection of costs, fines
14 and restitution of a defendant to a private collection agency
15 [upon the expiration of a] whether or not the defendant's
16 maximum sentence or probationary term has expired with or
17 without holding a hearing pursuant to this section. Such
18 collection agency shall adhere to accepted practices in
19 accordance with applicable Federal and State law to collect such
1 costs, fines and restitution.
