AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for width of vehicles.

3The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4hereby enacts as follows:

5Section 1. Section 4921(b)(7) of Title 75 of the
6Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended and the subsection
7is amended by adding a paragraph to read:

8§ 4921. Width of vehicles.

10(b) Special vehicles.--The following paragraphs determine 
11widths for special vehicles, with each paragraph specifically 
12controlling its own subject matter in the event of a conflict 
13with another paragraph:

15(2.3) Any silo not exceeding 12 feet in width may be
16hauled or towed between sunrise and sunset on highways other
17than freeways.

1(7) As used in this section, the following words and
2phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
3subsection:

4"Crop." The term includes, but is not limited to:

5(i) Field crops, including corn, wheat, oats, rye,
6barley, hay, potatoes and dry beans.

7(ii) Fruits, including apples, peaches, grapes,
8cherries and berries.

9(iii) Vegetables, including tomatoes, snap beans,
10cabbage, carrots, beets, onions and mushrooms.

11"Nutrient." The term includes, but is not limited to:

12(i) A substance or recognized plant nutrient,
13element or compound that is used or sold for its plant
14nutritive content or its claimed nutritive value.

15(ii) Livestock and poultry manures and their
16byproducts, compost used as fertilizer, commercially
17manufactured chemical fertilizers, biosolids or
18combinations of commercially manufactured chemical
19biosolids.

20"Silo." Any of the following:

21(i) A structure used predominantly for processing or
22storage of animal feed incidental to operation of the
23farm on which it is to be located.

24(ii) A freestanding detachable grain bin.

25(iii) A corn crib used exclusively for processing or
26storage of animal feed incidental to the operation of the
27farm on which it is to be located.

29Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
