        REFERRED TO STATE GOVERNMENT, AUGUST 6, 1999

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum as the official
     2     trolley museum of Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, Incorporated, is
     4  dedicated to communicating the story of Pennsylvania's Trolley
     5  Era to a diverse audience through the preservation,
     6  interpretation and use of its collection of electric railway
     7  vehicles, railroad vehicles, associated artifacts and
     8  photo/document archives; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum operates its
    10  facilities and makes acquisitions at its own expense; and
    11     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has served
    12  Pennsylvanians and other visitors for over 35 years at its
    13  museum in the Chartiers Township, Washington County,
    14  Pennsylvania; and
    15     WHEREAS, This endeavor to preserve the history of
    16  Pennsylvania's electric railway industry is beneficial to both
    17  present and future generations.


     1     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     2  hereby enacts as follows:
     3  Section 1.  Designation of official trolley museum.
     4     The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Chartiers Township,
     5  Washington County, Pennsylvania, is hereby designated as the
     6  official trolley museum of Pennsylvania. The museum shall be so
     7  designated by an official marker erected by the Pennsylvania
     8  Historical and Museum Commission.
     9  Section 2.  Effective date.
    10     This act shall take effect in 60 days.
