        SENATE AMENDMENTS TO HOUSE AMENDMENTS, OCTOBER 18, 1999

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating a portion of U.S. Route 322 in Mifflin County and
     2     Centre County as the J. Doyle Corman Highway.; and             <--
     3     designating a section of the Southern Tier Expressway in Erie
     4     County, as the Forest W. Hopkins Memorial Highway.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7  Section 1.  J. Doyle Corman Highway.
     8     (a)  Designation.--The sections of U.S. Route 322 in Mifflin   <--
     9  County and Centre County, from westbound segment 291, offset
    10  1259, and eastbound segment 290, offset 1223, in Mifflin County
    11  to the intersection with SR 144 in Centre County, are hereby
    12  designated as the J. Doyle Corman Highway.
    13     (b)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation                  <--
    14  SECTION 2.  SIGNS.                                                <--
    15     THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION shall erect and maintain
    16  appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to both

     1  eastbound and westbound traffic.
     2  Section 2.  Forest W. Hopkins Memorial Highway.                   <--
     3     (a)  Designation.--The eight-mile section of Route 17 in Erie
     4  County, from Greenfield Township to the New York State line, is
     5  hereby designated and shall be known as the Forest W. Hopkins
     6  Memorial Highway.
     7     (b)  Finding.--Forest W. Hopkins was a committed community
     8  servant, who served with distinction as a State Representative
     9  from the Fourth Legislative District from 1967 to 1978. Mr.
    10  Hopkins died in office in 1978.
    11     (c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    12  maintain road signs, which shall display the name of Forest W.
    13  Hopkins Memorial Highway, at the beginning and the end of the
    14  section of the highway designated in subsection (a).
    15     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
    16  SECTION 3.  EFFECTIVE DATE.                                       <--
    17     THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.
