                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130), entitled,
     2     as amended, "An act relating to counties of the first, third,
     3     fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth classes; amending,
     4     revising, consolidating and changing the laws relating
     5     thereto; relating to imposition of excise taxes by counties,
     6     including authorizing imposition of an excise tax on the
     7     rental of motor vehicles by counties of the first class; and
     8     providing for regional renaissance initiatives," providing
     9     for review of coroner's report.

    10     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    11  hereby enacts as follows:
    12     Section 1.  The act of August 9, 1955 (P.L.323, No.130),
    13  known as The County Code, is amended by adding a section to
    14  read:
    15     Section 1238.1.  Review of Coroner's Report.--(a)
    16  Notwithstanding section 1251, within seven days of completion of
    17  the coroner's report, the coroner shall send notice by certified
    18  mail to the personal representative that the report has been
    19  completed and may be reviewed by the personal representative and
    20  family members. The personal representative and family members
    21  shall have thirty days from receipt of the notification to

     1  review the report and comment on the report to the coroner.
     2     (b)  As used in this section, the following words and phrases
     3  shall have the meanings given to them in this subsection:
     4     "Autopsy."  An examination of a body after death to determine
     5  the:
     6     (1)  cause of death; or
     7     (2)  character and extent of changes produced by disease or
     8  injury.
     9     "Coroner's report."  All written and recorded items created
    10  in the performance of the autopsy, including, but not limited
    11  to, photographs, video recording and audio recording.
    12     "Family members."  Surviving spouse, child, parent or
    13  guardian of the decedent.
    14     "Personal representative."  Executor, administrator, special
    15  administrator or guardian of the decedent.
    16     Section 2.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
