AN ACT
1 Providing for a designated percentage of tobacco litigation
2 master settlement agreement funds to be utilized for cancer
3 research facilities.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Set aside for research facilities.
7 (a) General rule.--Annually, 25% of all moneys received by
8 the Commonwealth after any deduction for Commonwealth reserve as
9 established by law under the tobacco litigation master
10 settlement agreement shall be set aside for appropriation by the
11 General Assembly to cancer research facilities located within
12 this Commonwealth.
13 (b) Definition.--As used in this section, the term "tobacco
14 litigation master settlement agreement" means the master
15 settlement agreement relating to tobacco litigation entered into
16 in 1998 by the Commonwealth and leading United States tobacco
17 product manufacturers.
1 Section 2. Effective date.
2 This act shall take effect immediately.
