SENATE BILL

           BRIGHTBILL, EARLL AND LEMMOND, FEBRUARY 11, 1998

        REFERRED TO JUDICIARY, FEBRUARY 11, 1998

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     certain expenses and fees relating to the minor judiciary.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 3532 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 3532.  Expenses.
     9     The Office of the [Pennsylvania Supreme] Court Administrator
    10  of Pennsylvania shall pay the annual registration fee of [$150]
    11  $200 to the Special Court Judges of Pennsylvania Association for
    12  each district justice, Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge and
    13  Philadelphia Traffic Court Judge position authorized as of
    14  January 31 of each year. Payment shall be made [on the first day
    15  of a new fiscal year including July 1, 1988] within the first
    16  two weeks of each fiscal year. In addition the Office of the
    17  [Pennsylvania Supreme] Court Administrator of Pennsylvania shall
    18  pay the annual cost for the publishing of a monthly journal

     1  containing the update and revision of laws and State Supreme
     2  Court rule changes. Except for the funding of the publication of
     3  the monthly journal which shall be a direct cost of the Office
     4  of the [Pennsylvania Supreme] Court Administrator of
     5  Pennsylvania, all other funding for the other expenses set forth
     6  in this section shall come from the annual appropriation made to
     7  the district justices.
     8     Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, or
     9  immediately, whichever is later.
