AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for penalties.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Section 3310 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
6 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
7 § 3310. Following too closely.

9 (d) Penalty for drivers of motor carrier or maxi-cube
10 vehicles.--The driver of a motor carrier vehicle or a maxi-cube
11 vehicle who is convicted of a violation of this section shall be
12 sentenced to pay a fine of $100.
13 Section 2. Sections 3361 and 3362(c) of Title 75 are amended
14 to read:
15 § 3361. Driving vehicle at safe speed.
16 (a) General rule.--No person shall drive a vehicle at a
17 speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the
1 conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards
2 then existing, nor at a speed greater than will permit the
3 driver to bring his vehicle to a stop within the assured clear
4 distance ahead. Consistent with the foregoing, every person
5 shall drive at a safe and appropriate speed when approaching and
6 crossing an intersection or railroad grade crossing, when
7 approaching and going around a curve, when approaching a hill
8 crest, when traveling upon any narrow or winding roadway and
9 when special hazards exist with respect to pedestrians or other
10 traffic or by reason of weather or highway conditions.
11 (b) Penalty for drivers of motor carrier or maxi-cube
12 vehicles.--The driver of a motor carrier vehicle or a maxi-cube
13 vehicle who is convicted of a violation of this section shall be
14 sentenced to pay a fine of $100.
15 § 3362. Maximum speed limits.

17 (c) Penalty.--
18 (1) Any person violating this section is guilty of a
19 summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to
20 pay a fine of:
21 (i) $42.50 for violating a maximum speed limit of 65
22 miles per hour; or
23 (ii) $35 for violating any other maximum speed
24 limit.
25 (2) Any person exceeding the maximum speed limit by more
26 than five miles per hour shall pay an additional fine of $2
27 per mile for each mile in excess of five miles per hour over
28 the maximum speed limit.
29 (3) The driver of a motor carrier vehicle or a maxi-cube
30 vehicle who is convicted of a violation of this section shall

1 be sentenced to pay a fine in an amount that is double the
2 amount provided for under paragraphs (1) and (2).
3 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
