AN ACT 1 Amending the act of August 22, 1953 (P.L.1344, No.383), entitled 2 "An act relating to marriage; and amending, revising, 3 consolidating and changing the law relating thereto," further 4 providing for persons qualified to solemnize marriages. 5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 6 hereby enacts as follows: 7 Section 1. Section 13 of the act of August 22, 1953 8 (P.L.1344, No.383), known as The Marriage Law, amended October 9 18, 1975 (P.L.410, No.114), is amended to read: 10 Section 13. Persons Qualified to Solemnize Marriages.--The 11 chief justice and each justice of the Supreme Court, the 12 president judge and each judge of the Superior Court, the 13 president judge and each judge of the Commonwealth Court, the 14 president judge and each judge of the court of common pleas 15 court, the president judge and each judge of the orphans' court, 16 the president judge and each judge of the Allegheny County and 17 the Philadelphia Municipal Court, the president judge and each 18 judge of the Philadelphia Traffic Court, judges and full-time
1 magistrates of the District Courts of the United States for the 2 Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and each 3 judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third 4 Circuit who is a resident of Pennsylvania, each magistrate, 5 alderman, justice of the peace, mayor of any city, and burgess 6 of any borough of this Commonwealth, and each minister, priest 7 or rabbi of any regularly established church or congregation, is 8 hereby authorized to solemnize marriages between such persons as 9 produce a marriage license issued by the clerk of the orphans' 10 court. 11 Every religious society, religious institution or religious 12 organization in this Commonwealth may join together in marriage 13 such persons as are members of the said society, institution or 14 organization, or when one of such persons is a member of such 15 society, institution or organization, according to the rules and 16 customs of the society, institution or organization to which 17 either of them belong. 18 Section 2.
