                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, further providing for meeting or overtaking a
     3     school bus.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 3345(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 3345.  Meeting or overtaking school bus.
     9     (a)  Duty of approaching driver when red signals are
    10  flashing.--Except as provided in subsection (g), the driver of a
    11  vehicle meeting or overtaking any school bus stopped on a
    12  highway or trafficway shall stop at least ten feet before
    13  reaching the school bus when the red signal lights on the school
    14  bus are flashing and the side stop signal arms are activated
    15  under section 4552(b.1) (relating to general requirements for
    16  school buses). The driver shall not proceed until the flashing
    17  red signal lights are no longer actuated. In no event shall a
    18  driver of a vehicle resume motion of the vehicle until the

     1  school children who may have alighted from the school bus have
     2  reached a place of safety. The driver of a vehicle approaching
     3  an intersection or a trafficway at which a school bus is stopped
     4  shall stop his vehicle at that intersection or trafficway until
     5  the flashing red signal lights are no longer actuated.
