SENATE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for rights of property owners and
     3     residents.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 7305.1.  Rights of property owners and residents.
     9     An owner of any real property or resident or leaseholder
    10  thereof or person in control of the property on which there is
    11  an abandoned vehicle may request authorization by the police
    12  department to remove or have removed the abandoned vehicle to
    13  the storage facility of a duly-authorized salvor. Upon such
    14  request, the police department may authorize the removal. Any
    15  salvor agreeing to take possession of an abandoned vehicle
    16  pursuant to this section shall within 48 hours comply with the
    17  provisions of section 7304 (relating to reports to department of
    18  possession of abandoned vehicles). Proper notification of the

     1  removal of the vehicle shall be sent pursuant to section 7305
     2  (relating to notice to owner and lienholders of abandoned
     3  vehicles).
     4     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
