SENATE BILL

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for false alarms to
     3     agencies of public safety.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 4905 of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 4905.  False alarms to agencies of public safety.
     9     (a)  Offense.--A person who knowingly causes a false alarm of
    10  fire or other emergency to be transmitted to or within any
    11  organization, official or volunteer, for dealing with
    12  emergencies involving danger to life or property commits a
    13  misdemeanor of the first degree.
    14     (b)  Additional penalty.--In addition to any fine levied upon
    15  a person convicted under subsection (a), he shall pay a penalty
    16  of $25, if the offense was committed in an area where police
    17  protection is provided solely by the Pennsylvania State Police.
    18  The penalty paid under this subsection shall be placed in a

     1  special fund and paid to the Pennsylvania State Police for
     2  payment of overtime pay for Pennsylvania State Policemen.
     3     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
