AN ACT 1 Amending the act of December 22, 1989 (P.L.702, No.93), entitled 2 "An act requiring school directors to prohibit the use of 3 steroids by pupils involved in athletics; requiring education 4 regarding the use of anabolic steroids; requiring penalties 5 for unauthorized use of anabolic steroids; and providing for 6 dispensing anabolic steroids and for prescriptions for 7 anabolic steroids," further providing for penalties. 8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9 hereby enacts as follows: 10 Section 1. Section 3 of the act of December 22, 1989 11 (P.L.702, No.93), entitled "An act requiring school directors to 12 prohibit the use of steroids by pupils involved in athletics; 13 requiring education regarding the use of anabolic steroids; 14 requiring penalties for unauthorized use of anabolic steroids; 15 and providing for dispensing anabolic steroids and for 16 prescriptions for anabolic steroids," is amended to read: 17 Section 3. Penalties. 18 (a) Violations of rules and regulations.--The board of 19 school directors shall prescribe the following minimum penalties 20 for any pupil found in violation of the rules and regulations
1 required under section 1: 2 (1) For a first violation, suspension from [school 3 athletics] the sport in which the student was participating 4 when the violation occurred for the remainder of the season. 5 (2) For a second violation, suspension from [school 6 athletics] the sport in which the student was participating 7 when the violation occurred for the remainder of the season 8 and for the following season. 9 (3) For a third violation, permanent suspension from 10 school athletics. 11 (b) Eligibility for participation in [school athletics] any 12 sport limited.--No student shall be eligible to resume 13 participation in [school athletics] any sport unless there has 14 been a medical determination that no residual evidence of 15 steroids exists. The board may require participation in any drug 16 counseling, rehabilitation, testing or other program as a 17 condition of reinstatement into a [school athletic] sport 18 program. 19 Section 2.
