Subject: | Student Tuition Recovery |
I will be re-introducing House Bill 1793 from last session providing for a tuition recovery safety net for students attending private post-secondary schools which cease operations. Currently, if a school closes, students may not receive tuition reimbursement, but many still have to pay back loans. My legislation will create surety levels for private post-secondary schools based on a percentage of gross tuition revenue. Additionally, the legislation will also create a student tuition recovery fund. This fund will be used to pay for any reimbursements not covered by the surety and will be funded by private post-secondary schools at a yearly assessment not to exceed two-tenths of one percent of their gross tuition revenue. Previous co-sponsors include: SAYLOR, AUMENT, CREIGHTON, DONATUCCI, FARRY, GILLESPIE, GOODMAN, GROVE, HENNESSEY, KAUFFMAN, KAVULICH, KILLION, KOTIK, MANN, MURT, PYLE, QUINN, RAPP, SWANGER, VULAKOVICH and YOUNGBLOOD I hope you will consider joining me in support of this important legislation.
