Subject: | Legislation to adopt permanent voting standards |
I will be introducing legislation, in the near future, that would permanently adopt the voting standards published by the Department of State in the Pennsylvania Bulletin Volume 33 Number 31 on August 2, 2003. Section 301 (a)(6) of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 [42 U.S.C. § 15481(a)(6)] required each State to adopt uniform and nondiscriminatory standards that define what constitutes a vote and what will be counted as a vote for each category of voting system used in the State. Act No. 2011-3 adopted these standards for 2011 and 2012; however, there are currently no voting standards in place.
