Subject: | Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day - Former HB 2613 |
In the very near future, I plan to re-introduce former HB 2613, legislation establishing March 30th of each year as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” in Pennsylvania. March 30th is a historical day – in that it marks the very date that the last of our U.S. Troops departed Vietnam in 1973. There were more than 304,000 service members wounded in Vietnam, approximately 75,000 disabled, and of the 58,193 service members who lost their lives, 3,144 were from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Public debate and political crossfire, in many cases, led to the unfortunate mistreatment of many of our soldiers as they returned to the United States from Vietnam. Please join me to honor the memory of those who served so faithfully and extend our gratitude to those heroes who sacrificed so much for our nation. Thank you for your attention and consideration. Former co-sponsors include: SACCONE, MARSHALL , ADOLPH , AUMENT, BAKER , BROOKS , CAUSER , CLYMER , COX , CUTLER , DiGIROLAMO , EVERETT , FLECK , GILLEN, GINGRICH , GODSHALL , GROVE, HAHN, HARHART , HEFFLEY, HELM , HENNESSEY , HESS , KAUFFMAN , KILLION , MAHER , MAJOR , MALONEY, MARSICO , METCALFE , MICOZZIE , MILLARD , MILNE , O'NEILL , PERRY , PICKETT , PYLE , QUINN , RAPP , ROCK , ROSS , SAYLOR , SCAVELLO , CULVER, SONNEY , STEVENSON , SWANGER , TALLMAN, VEREB and WATSON |
